Her Little Project @ Home

Giselle is very into drawing "Mr Sunny" recently. Hence, I borrowed a science book on "Sun" from the library.
After reading the book to her, I asked her to do a little project by drawing a sun as a coverpage. 90% of the drawing were done by her. I only chipped in to help on the mountains...
Once she finished with the coverpage, she continued to draw a "family portrait" of us inside it. Of course, she didn't spell my name correctly... haha.

A new Hairstyle that I suddenly thought of...

Thought of this new pattern suddently and wanted to try on Giselle. She got impatient while I was tying for her but I am happy with the results.

Raisins & Choc Chips Mini-Muffin

Wanted to bake some muffins for Giselle and hence got this recipe from happybakingmum's blog. This round I let Giselle joined in the process and she really enjoyed it very much. Of course, part of her enjoyment also came from messing up my ingredients... Haha!

Art Lessons for Giselle

This little girl really likes to attend Art Lessons. So far, I have only sign her up for the Art enrichment class at her Fairfield school for every wed, 11.45am - 12.45pm. This lesson is conducted by external vendor, Kinderart.
Initially I was quite skeptical of this class as I find she didn't learn much. But after what Teacher Rudy told me, I have decided to let her continue. Teacher said Giselle is very attentive and independent. She takes instructions very well and finish her work fast too.
Almost everyday she will ask me when is her art class. haha.

"Fun-Loving Girl"...

That's what her Gong-gong always describe her... :)
When comes to playtime with her Gong-gong, she will go crazy - non-stop laughing, scream, jumping and running about. Sometimes make me think whether she is a girl or boy.. haha.

Golden Baked Breaded Pork Cutlets

I copied a recipe from Internet quite some time ago and decided to try it today. Since it was baked in the oven, I find the overall texture rather dry. But the taste was quite alright.
However, this is a healthy version of a "deep-fried" food for kids.

The "Why" questions...

It really made me dumb-folded at times. I guess it is a stage when all parents have to go through with their kids.

Sometimes, I will throw back the question of "why" to her and she became speechless too. Haha. But at times, i will try to reply her questions and if I am not sure about the answers, I told her I will find out the answers for her later.

Half failed Chiffon Cakes :(

Did 2 chiffon cakes for a good friend today but I did a blunder. The batter didn't fill the sides of the cake tin enough and there were holes on the top layer at the sides after I turned it upside down. But it is a good mistake to make because I know what to look out for next round.
The texture of the cakes were not affected though and my friend said they were very nice. Phew!

Cotton Sponge Cake

Tried to bake a Cotton Sponge cake today and the taste and texture turned out to be quite alright. As this recipe doesn't call for Baking Powder, you could see this cake sank a little after it has cooled down. I reduced the sugar again so that I can distribute some to Giselle's classmates.
It is an 8-inch cake, hence, I definately can't finish it at home.

Her Own Study Corner

Everyday after school, she would spend some time at her favourite study corner doing her revision of writing her alphabets, numbers and chinese characters. She could only write very few of the chinese characters and gets very frustrated when it didn't turn out well.

I just love to see the way she concentrates on her work and hence I quickly took out the camera and snap a few photos :)

Her Colouring Skills....

The way Giselle colours her work can really make me laugh at times in the past. She loves to just "anyhow colour" as seen in the first picture above.

Now she starts to colour more decently as shown on the second picture :)

Pork & Lentil Burger Bento

This is consider my 1st lunch bento for Giselle. I am very happy that she finished everything in the box, except the papers, of course. haha.
She ate it after her Berries World class and told me she likes the coleslaw and burger very much :)

Pandan Chiffon - Part II

This is my 2nd attempt on the all-time favourite Pandan Chiffon. The texture this round is better than the previous round as it is more fluffy :) And also, I have reduced the sugar by 20% so that Giselle can eat more.

Changi Coastal Walk

Daddy has been teaching her to appreciate nature. But he will go round plucking small flowers from the grass for Giselle. I was wondering isn't he teaching Giselle how to destroy the nature?!?! Hahaha. I better not let her daddy read this... ;p

Anyway Giselle seems to be happily joining her Daddy for the "expedition". In the end, she will pass the tiny flowers to me for "keeping" - that's what she always does to me.

It was a hot afternoon. When we reach Changi was about 11am. We picnic for a little while at one of the spot while I gave Giselle her lunch. Thereafter, we headed to the Changi Yacht club for a good lunch.

Giselle & Mummy!

Organic Chewy Oatmeal Raisins Cookies

I bought a smiliar type of cookies from a neighbourhood provision shop and immediately fell in love with it. I chanced upon a recipe from happyhomebaking's blog and realised she did this sort of cookies before. The texture is really "muffin-like" and abit chewy.

i tried it out immediately using the organic ingredients that I have. The comment from my hubby is excellent!!! He couldn't stop eating them. Giselle loves it too but I didn't allow her to eat much as I find it abit too sweet for her. Will remember to reduce the sugar the next round when I bake again.

Pandan Chiffon

I managed to get the Coconut milk from Sheng Siong since I am around the area this morning. Finally get to bake this popular chiffon with the recipe from Prima website. I replaced the green colouring and pandan juice by just getting the Pandan Paste from Phoon Huat. Saved me alot of trouble too.
The recipe is just right for a 7" chiffon tin but I didn't dare to pour all the batter into the tin for fear it may overflow, hence, I put the baked the remaining batter in 5 cupcake tins.
The texture is very soft. In addition, the fragrant and sweetness was just right for me. Since my uncle is also a fan of Pandan Chiffon, I gave the whole chiffon to my uncle who is flying to Hong Kong this week :)

3rd week of a new routine...

So far Giselle has been quite co-operative with me taking public transport. But most of the time, she would request to take bus to go home after school.

There was once I said we need to take MRT home so that I can buy some apples at Tiong Bahru, she whined and insisted that I take bus home. Hence, I have no choice but to give in to her before she starts making noises...

On the way to the bus stop at Neil Rd, we would talk about her school for that day and what she ate in school. When she sees me carrying bread in my marketing bags, she would insist that to eat it on the spot. She is really a bread lover like her Daddy.

When she is on the bus, she would talk like the whole bus belongs to her. When she is in a good mood, she would sing a song or two and this made the bus driver very happy. Journey home is actually quite short with a few bus stops away. She loves the walking distance to our house from the bus-stop where we alighted as she could run and laugh with me catching behind her.

An Enjoyable Dinner @ Zhou's Kitchen (Far East Sq)

This meal is to celebrate my mum's birthday in advance as my uncle is flying to Hong Kong for a short holiday very soon. Giselle's grandma actual birthday is on 17 Apr.
We opted for the buffet dinner this round and the food and service were great. They allocated us a private room where we could laugh and chat loudly. Hehe.
I was happy that we could take this family photo as very seldom my grandma would want to be included in photos. She kept saying she is not pretty or doesn't look good in photos.

Helping Out with Housework...

Talking about housework, we have been training her on and off on how to help us with doing the chores in our house. It will depends on her mood whether she wants to do it or not. But most of the time, if she is not engross in something, she would drop what she is doing and come help me :)

Adaptability....

Giselle's new teacher at Fairfield commented that Giselle is a very adaptable child. Ever since she joined this new school, she hasn't been homesick or cry for us, not even once. However, teacher noticed that she is very shy and soft-spoken on the first week. Now is better, will voice out and request for this and that...

I told the teacher that she is like that at home. She terrorised us and the house, rude to us and demand for this and that.

Golden Citrus Chiffon

Tried this recipe today again after I have graduated from cake making (foundation) class by Creative Culinaire. The texture is just right but I found it still too sweet after I reduced the sugar abit. Next round I am going to be more daring with the reduction of sugar.
The next project will be the Pandan Chiffon since Adrian likes this very much.
