Jaren @ 10.5 months old

Jaren is definitely babbling more nowadays, practicing his standing stunt as well.

At d weight of 8.5kg, 60% of milk feed on Similac formula and 40% on breastmilk, can feel he is much heavier now.

He is also at d stage of being very sticky to me. However, he still love to play with strangers, smiling and laughing with whoever who tries to make him laugh.

Having Fun Doing Gym with Daddy!

Both of them adore staying in their Daddy's room while Daddy is doing his routine workout. Giselle would dance to the music and Jaren will crawl around, open cupboards and laughing at Giselle's movements.... Sometimes I will just sit out the room and enjoy the scene with my camera :)

Jaren is Giselle's Little Toy?

Giselle has started to treat his little brother like a little toy. At times she would swing him about, scaring the heads out of us... At times, she would pretend to ride on Jaren, thinking he is her little car.... Jaren, instead of screaming for help, he would laugh along with his elder sister. What can I say?...

Looking Back at Year 2010...

Sitting now in front of my pc trying to recall what are the wonderful things that came during this year.... well, my list is endless... :)

Well of course, the top of my list came the arrival of Jaren in March which is really the most ideally gift from God, besides having Giselle. Sometimes, I just looked back how I can cope handling the 2 of them on my own, then I thought the strength and determination comes from the love I have for them. It's never easy being a full time housewife, taking care of every aspect of the family. But I must also say a BIG thank you to my mum who would come over at times to help me out so that I can take a breather; also to Giselle who has been my little helper towards Jaren. She is like my little pair of extra hands and legs who will rush to grab a diaper when I am changing Jaren or to get tissues when I am feeding him... And of course another thank you to my hubby who helps me to manage both of them when I am busy with other chores :)
After being a mum, I realised how strong all Mummies are! I looked at how my mum cope when she has to do marketing, prepare meals and cook for the family and also do housework at my grandma house. When I asked her, how come you don't feel tired? She replied me in cantonese
"Says who?!?".. haha.

Just recently Giselle cried badly one of the nights as she has a nightmare. She was crying non-stop and kept looking for me. She told me: "I want Mummy!"... After she cool down, I asked her what happened and she thought hard and told me that she dreamt "Mummy went to Heaven..". Then she cried again and held me tightly... Aiyo, I wanted to cry with her too because I thought what would happen to both of them if I am really gone. Silly me and I know I shouldn't be thinking of such things. I told her she and Jaren are my most precious things in my life and I wouldn't bear to leave them behind. For the rest of the night, Giselle slept with me, holding me tightly... silly girl :)

Soon, Giselle will be entering primary 1 and to path the route for her, I volunteered myself in River Valley Primary school so that she could get some priority during the application stage. I had completed 41 hours within 2.5 months doing all sort of duties like admin, teacher assistants etc.

Nothing is more important than happiness and good health in the family, I hope every member of the family will have a blessed new year ahead!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Our Year End Trip.... :)

We set off to the airport early on 20 Dec so that the kids can enjoy the airport for while before boarding the plane. We arrived Bali at about 10pm and headed straight to Ramayana Hotel in Kuta for a good rest. It was a Balinese style room and it was spacious, especially the bathroom... Giselle kept asking when can soak in the tub! Our room was on the resort club floor and it has central lounge area where we can have free tea and snacks.

On the first 2 nights in Bali, our dear Jaren was screaming and crying his head off for 1-2 hours before going to sleep. I guessed he was really not used to his cot and new environment.

As it was raining season in Bali, we kind of expect we have to carry umbrella around. The 2nd day was drizzling almost whole day and we had a hard time struggling with a stroller and making sure the kids were not wet.

On the 3rd day, we checked out of the hotel and headed to Ubud to check in to The Ubud Village resort and Spa. Before going to the resort, we went to visit a waterfall and had lunch. Basically we were very lucky for the remaining days of the trip as the rain only came during the middle of the nights and stopped when daylight came. Phew!

We spent the remaining fews day enjoying the villa where they was fish pond, hot outdoor tub. And also not forgetting the good food and service; nice resort pool in ubud.

On Christmas Eve, we ate at a Japanese family Restaurant called Kagemusha. It was run by a couple who the Jap wife is the chef. It was restaurant was a favourite among Japanese. We went there for dinner and initially was shocked to find many lizards on the wall, various sizes even. I didn't dare to look at the wall and Giselle was very uncomfortable too. However, when the food arrived, all of us were totally enjoying the food, forgetting our "good friends" with us. Haha...

Overall, the whole family has enjoyed the trip though it was tiring for the adults to take care of the kids :) The next trip that we are all looking forward to will be the Hokkaido trip in May next year!....

Jaren @ 8.5 months...

Well, I weighted Jaren yesterday and noticed that he didn't put on much weight since the last time (though he looks that he is growing well at least to me). Hence, I brought him to see his usual GP, Dr Tan at Dawson.

Jaren is about 7.7kg with a height of 69cm. Dr Tan said although Jaren is petite, he looks well-fed. Asked me not to worry as most important is that Jaren is healthy.

Anyway, since my breastmilk supply is getting lesser, I have decided to supplement him with some formula milk...

I have also started him with semi-solid food like purees, cereal when he was 6.5 months old. He has also started porridge since he was about 8 months old. Initially I really had difficulty making him to open his mouth, probably he was ready to be spoon-fed. He would either turn his head left or right or look down. The food somehow or rather would land onto his bib.... these days are slightly better, at least, he will open his mouth when he has swallowed or the spoon is near him lips. Hope he gets better each day....:)

Hi-5 in Town again...!

Well, since is school holidays now, most malls are having their own meet and greet session for some characters like Barbie doll, Mr Men, Barney etc and of course, not forgetting Giselle's favourite Hi-5!

This round, they are at Marina Square from 26 Nov - 12 Dec. I had promised Giselle to bring her there today for the 1pm show. We reached there at about 12.10pm and the queue was really a LONGGG one! To take pix with the group, we have to be within the 1st 50 families. Well, we were not and I managed to convince Giselle that since she had taken a pix with them last year, she should give a chance to other kids this year. She wasn't unhappy and was very understanding to accept the fact.

While queuing for the show, we met Tim and Stevie walking to the backstage to prepare. They were really nice and friendly by waving and smiling to us.

At the end of the show, Giselle wanted badly to pass a small piece of drawing that she has done to Laurent . Not wanting to disappoint my gal, I sneaked by the side and headed towards the host on the stage while the rest were queuing to go up the stage to take pix.

My original intention was just to pass the drawing to the host, Melissa, and asked her to pass the drawing to Laurent. Well, she said since Giselle is a big fan of Hi-5, she should hand the drawing to her personally. Hence, Melissa gave us a pass to go to the stage. What a pleasant surprise! Giselle suddenly became the happiest little on earth !!! :)

All the kids had alot of fun playing with one and other and my dear Jaren also had fun moving around till he fell on the floor while missing his balance... ;p

Curious Boy

Adrian brought Jaren to sit near the water fountain outside Burlington Square. Jaren was fascinated by the water fountain and yet he is fearful of the initial splash.

School Holiday Days are drawing very near....

Well, the start of my extra busy days soon when Giselle doesn't need to go to school. This round I am going to be lazy and not sign her up for any holiday programmes...

Prefer her to stay at home to finish the various activity books that I bought for her last time and also to spend more time reading the many story books that I bought for her from Borders store.

Jaren at 8 months old...

Just a blink of eyes and my little baby is 8 months old now. His growth has been tremendous! Sometimes I find really too fast for me to catch up....

He started crawling at when he was about 6.5months when he wasn't even ready to sit on his own then. Since then, I have to make sure my eyes are on him when he is happily crawling round the hall.

My current house hall to too small to put a play-yard and hence, I gave up the idea of fencing him. Boys being boys, he is so active, even when I am carrying him, he would wriggle, turn his head left to right etc. Oh, and now he is also drooling ALOT. Always leaving his traces of saliva, everywhere he goes... faintz!

Since he is so mobile now, I also have to make sure my house floor is free of dust and dirt (not 100% of course) most of the time.

Now he can play so well with his elder sister who also had alot of fun playing with him.

Tree Planting Day at Jalan Membina

Today there was a visit by our Minister Mentor Mr Lee Kwan Yew to our estate to honour the Tree Planting Day event.
Well, since 3 weeks ago, our estate has been "exceptionally" clean and some of our blocks walls was repainted to prepare for his arrival. Maybe I should say a big Thank You to our MM Lee. I tried to get hold of the tickets for this event but somehow I couldn't get it as the RCs were closed most of the time.
Nevertheless, today, we went down at 5pm sharp, hoping to catch a glimpse of MM Lee upon his arrival. Giselle was very excited too today. Well not because of MM Lee, but because she wanted to watch the performance on the stage. haha.
We waited till 5.45pm but still no sight of MM Lee. Jaren was getting real crankly as he was perspiring among the crowd. Giselle too was complaining that she's very hot and kept saying why have to wait so long.. Well, KIDS!
Hence we headed to the coffeeshop for dinner and went back at around 6.20pm when MM Lee had arrived. I managed to catch a glimpse of him from far. When he gave a short speech on stage, I realised that he is really old and frail as he spoke quite softly. Nevertheless, I am happy to finally get to see him for once. A highly respectable man of Singapore! :)

Think she has the potential in photography :)

A Visit to the Asian Civilisation Museum

This Museum was having some activities for kids today and hence we brought Giselle there to have some fun. Since parking was quite inconvenient, all 4 of us took a train to Raffles Place and walked.
As there was long queue for the kite and lantern making activity, we just brought Giselle to participate in the passport stamping expedition. Basically was that we had to cover a few parts of the musuem to locate the staff to stamp on her museum passport. A simple activity and yet she had fun walking around and locating the staff.
After getting 4 stamps on her passport, she happily went to the reception to claim her goodie bag :)

Sisterly Love

Jaren is very fortunate to have a elder sister to play with him since birth. Sometimes none in my family can make Jaren laughed, except for Giselle.

Everyday after Giselle returns from her school, she looks forward to see and play with her little brother. Maybe Jaren, at his age now doesn't know how to protect himself even if Giselle bullies him (though it has never before).

A typical playtime scene would be Jaren was put into his bumbo seat and be manipulated by Giselle, just like the above photo.

Now as Jaren grows older, he knows how to scream when he is made uncomfortable by Giselle.

Gong Gong Birthday today!

Giselle has been excitedly counting down today her Gong-Gong's birthday as she wanted to gave him a card. So today I went to Four Leaves Bakery to buy a Mango cake for my father and invited him to my house for a mini-celebration with his grandchildren - Giselle and Jaren.

During the singing of the birthday song, Giselle was so happy (as though is her birthday, haha!) and kept laughing and smiling. Jaren enjoyed the session throughout too.
