Happenings @ Delcare - 5 Oct 07

Dear Mummy and Daddy,

This week, we had a very interesting outing to the Botanic Garden on Children’s day! After our filling breakfast, we waited for some of our friends to reach school. And when we were done, the teachers got busy with our name tags, water bottles, diapers and food! Our teachers even got prams for us to sit in! When everything was done, we made our way to the bus. From there, we set off to the Botanic Garden!

When we got there, we came out of the prams and played with beach ball. It was fun kicking the balls and running around with our teachers. Some of us even fell but we were brave little children and we did not cry at all! After our fall, we got up and ran all over the place again. When we were tired, we took a walk around Botanic garden. Our teachers wanted to bring us to Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden in Botanic Garden but we couldn’t find them. Perhaps, you could bring me there! I was sure we would have loads of fun together. J

After lunch, we went back to school, shower and slept. When we woke up… WE HAD LOADS OF PRESENTS! They were from the school, Ms. Jesmin, Ms. Joanna, Ms. Angela and Amanda’s mummy. It was very nice of them to get us presents. A big thank you to all of them! We had a pretty hard time managing all the toys while on the way home, right? (Hehe!)

For English this week, Ms. Angela read us 2 books. One is called “Scarecrow’s secret” and the other, “Bear all year round”.

Scarecrow’s secret is a story of Mr. Boot, a farmer, together with his children, making scarecrow to scare away the crows so that the crows will not eat their crops! And when their scarecrow was done, it turned out true that none of the crows came and pecked at their crops! But when they saw their neighbour’s field, lots of crows came although they had a scarecrow too. The children were amazed at their own scarecrow and thought that their scarecrow might had a secret. So, they observed their scarecrow very quietly. Suddenly, the scarecrow started to move. They crept up quietly to their scarecrow and looked carefully. It moved again! And when they went closer to take a look, they saw their cat and its kittens amongst the straw of the scarecrow! Hmmm. I also think that was why the crows dare not go into Mr. Boot’s farm.
Bear all year round is a story of a bear living in different seasons. The bear wanted to go out to play and needed our help in identifying what he needed! When it was snowing, he needed a sled to slide in the snow. When it was hot, he needed his shoes to go for a run in the park! We sure had a fun time guessing what the bear really wanted!

For math, we did puzzle play. This time round, we tried different type of puzzles. The wooden type and the foam puzzle. Some of us managed to try the foam puzzles but we needed time. Amanda was very cute. When she was done with her puzzles, she told Ms. Angela that she wanted to help her friends! Wasn’t it very helpful of her?

For art, besides dough play, we also did ice Popsicle painting. It was so cold but we enjoy it none the less. Brandon even had a bite at it! Our Popsicle was blue in colour and when we painted our paper, it also turned blue! It seemed like magic. After using our Popsicle, we still couldn’t resist but ask for more Popsicle. Ms. Angela then gave us our second stick and we really enjoyed painting with our icy cold Popsicle! That explained why our hand was stained with blue when we went home that day.

As our theme for this brand new month was Land Animals, Ms. Angela allowed us to choose which farm animal print we wanted and allowed us to do finger painting on it. Ms. Angela also said that she was going to cut it out and paste it on our theme board! I couldn’t wait to see my work on the wall!

Ms. Angela told us that Charlotte was sick and will not be coming to school for a little while. I was sure we would miss her. I hoped she gets well soon so that she could come back and play with us!

Till then, take care!
