Jaren is 2!!!

It seems like yesterday that Jaren was born... He is going to be 2 in 4 days time! Wow!

As today is also Daddy Adrian's birthday, we had a joint celebration with our Parents at Bosses Restuarant. Jaren was very happy to see the candles and his Chuggington cake which was done by one of my good friends. Giselle was pretty excited too as she wanted to blow the cake for her little brother... haha :)

RV Parents Teacher Meeting

River Valley Pri had organised a meeting for P1 Parents to know more about their cirriculum and organisation.

After the briefing at the school hall, parents were led into our kids' classroom to see how a lesson was conducted. So I had the chance to take a look how Giselle was in class. :)

The class was having their English lesson and could see everyone was enjoying the lesson conducted by their form teacher, Ms Farah.

Another Celebration!:)

Brought the kids to MRT to Raffles Place and took a nice stroll to Marina Bay Sands yesterday.

All of us had lots of fun throughout the journey, with Jaren and Giselle running about and entertaining themselves. Then today, Daddy ordered a birthday cake for me from Cake Glace and the kids were so excited about singing the birthday song and blowing out the candle (for me)... haha!

Dressed Giselle and Jaren in traditional costumes this year to celebrate the occasion. As usual, our visiting started at my grandma house and followed by my in-law house. Lasted the whole day but it is a good time for reunion!! :)

My Little Jaren Has started School As well!:)

Jaren started his 1st day of playgroup on 3 Jan 12 and it is at the Blk 118A Jalan Membina RC.

The day started with a not-so-good note as the teacher whom I liked has resigned suddenly. I was quite annoyed about this as I had purposely signed up for this teacher. Anyway, 1st day Jaren was alright as I accompanied him throughout. He made some friends and the most of the parents there were very friendly.

2nd day, I left halfway through the class. Although the main teacher wasn't up to standard, but the assistant teacher, Joanne, was very good.

Then started the 3rd day, he I began to say bye bye to him and left him crying there. He has a very good friend, Issac who is also almost the same pattern as him. So both of them were in the assistant teacher's throughout. I noticed he likes to hold his water bottle for security there which is the same as Giselle when she 1st started childcare. As I peeped in between the curtains, I saw Jaren was very determined to go home. He picked up his money haversack, carried it nicely behind his back, and kept pointing at the door. I was outside, not sure to laugh or to feel sorry for him. Haha! Anyway, things were better each day for him.

Today is the 2nd week of playgroup for him and I am really happy that the main-teacher has been changed to a better one. On top of that, Jaren didn't cry or resist when I walked him to the school. From then, I know things would get better and settled down happily soon.

First Week of Primary School

The 1st event of 2012 has kicked off with the start of Giselle entering into P1 of River Valley Primary School and also Jaren going into Playgroup at a nearby RC.

Initially I was worried about Giselle having some anxiety into a new school but surprisely she was very much mentally prepared for it. Had packed her school bag about a week ago and I made her write her names on all the books. Gave her a money pouch for her recess money.

School bus on the first day was chaotic with parents squeezing into school bus. And the best part was that the driver nearly forgotten the route to school. Giselle managed to make friends with a sweet gal at our neighbourhood and everyday, she would sit with her on the bus, playing and chatting with each other. I took the first ride with her to school and also the ride from school to home. Just to make sure everything is smooth for my gal and she had boarded the right bus.

Upon reaching the school, the students were led up to the school hall and I just briefly waved to her to bid farewell. During recess time, a P5 buddy was arranged for Giselle and she had noodles soup. I met this nice gal and her name is Kimberly. She took care of Giselle very well. My gal was pretty slow in eating her noodles and Kimberly patiently waited for her. The buddy system lasted for 3 days and on the 4th day, Giselle, together with 2 friends, bought her food without much hassle.

Her teacher had requested a one button file which I need to get it from the bookshop. Hence, I thought it would be a good chance for Giselle to be more independent by buying the file on her own at the bookshop. I am really proud of her though it was really a minor thing. This goes to show my little is really growing up positively each day.

First week had passed quickly. I could see Giselle had enjoyed every minute of it. She looks forward to going to school which I was really happy to see that. She has started to make friends even on the first day and School bus had also started to be more punctual. Now just hoping things will settle down by the end of 2nd week.

DES Dance Camp

Giselle attended a 4-day Dance Camp at DES and she had enjoyed herself thoroughly. The camp ran from 6 - 9 Dec, 10am-6pm.

Initially after the 1st day, she told me she didn't want to go to the Dance Camp on 2nd day morning. I had a hard time convincing her when she told me that she finds the hours to long. However, at the end of the 2nd day, she was so excited and told me she want to go the camp everyday!

Coincidentally, her previous childcare - Delcare, had sent some of the students to attend this camp as well. She met her old friends like Vivian, Vera etc.

During the camp, Giselle learnt many things like dance steps, culture etc. Meals were catered for and she told me the food was very yummy. At the end of the 4th day, parents were invited to the school to watch what our kids had learnt during their performances.

Angry Birds Meet-n-Greet

I didn't let Giselle know that I was going to bring her to enjoy the meet and greet Angry Birds session at Takashimaya today until we boarded the taxi.

She was so excited! But I told her she must be prepared to queue for an hour.

Well, I am glad she was independent to queue by herself while I saw other parents were queuing for their kids.

Her wish came true and she managed to get a photo taken with the Birds. Haha.

River Valley Primary School's P1 Orientation

Giselle and me reached the school at about 8.50am today and we are just in time!

The Principal, Mr Danny Poh, stood at the entrance of the school building and greeted everyone of the new P1 students and parents. He seems very friendly and approachable.

After registering and gotten our goodie bag, Giselle and Luke who are in the same class of P1 Confidence, held hands and walked to the assembly hall where their form teacher, Ms Farah took over.

While the kids are in their respective classes having their activities, we Parents had to stay at the hall and listen to some introduction of the schools. After that, we were told to submit the relevant forms and take a queue no. to buy some books and stationery.

Had managed to see some familiar faces of Giselle's friends from Delcare Childcare. But when I asked Giselle about them, she said she couldn't remember any of them. Faintz!

The whole event lasted till 11am.

Jaren's Routine of Sending Giselle to School

Every morning, Jaren has the habit of waiting for the Fairfield's school bus and send his 姐姐 off.

He could recognize the red mini bus very well. Once Giselle has boarded the bus, he would wave bye bye to her.

Today is the last day that Giselle is going to wear her school uniform. She has been wearing her 3 sets during the last 2.75 years with Fairfield. Hence her skirt length has became much shorter than before.
